I'd recommend looking at used stock from DCI and drum corps groups. You stated you're looking for a 4.5 which is a range very specific to marching band. You also don't have to worry about finding a buyer to sell it as again, this is a very niche market. More expensive in the long run, but less of an investment if you just need it for a year or two. Most older cheap marimbas are out of tune and need returning, which is a very delicate and expensive trade only a dozen or so people in the world know how to do properly. The next big thing are the bars which will need tuned and taken care of. Chips, cracks, dents, wear and tear decrease value since alot of the marimba is an esthetic instrument (fine woods, hand crafted parts, etc). The value of a marimba really depends on its quality and maintenance. Practice marimbas are great for a cheap alternative but as some said, they lack resonators and aren't really "performance instruments"- they're solely for practice.
